I am publishing a book with my son, and you can read drafts here. This book is special to me because it captures the big questions, the big mistakes, and the big “ahas” that I learned about being a Christian in college. It’s also special because I’m writing it with my son, and we didn’t actually plan to do it this way. My son is still in college. Right after his freshman year he made a 180 degree change in direction from studying to be a physical therapist to wanting to pursue Christian ministry, and in the weeks that followed that decision, Joshua started revealing parts of his testimony, his struggles in college that resulted in his decision to make a change. That’s when I realized there was something special about our collective story of having a great awakening in college. College Prep for Christians was born out of that realization.
Here’s what our early “beta” readers are saying:
It’s a very arresting chapter. It challenges the misinformation about the role of women which is a hot topic these days in both Christian and secular circles.
Just like the previous chapters, I find the balance of the anecdotes with what you learned and hope others will take from it was perfect. The conversational style of these chapters have made the prose easy to digest and I don’t even realize I’ve reached the end till I reached it. This chapter in particular was my personal favorite so far. I always feel like too many people place friendship and its importance at a back-burner when friends can be and often are the most influential people in our lives.
Thank you so much for letting me read this! I loved this! I loved how you added your son’s perspective, so far I can relate to both. I’ve experienced similar things my freshman year. I can’t wait to read more. Thank you both for sharing your stories.
I’m enjoying the book and so glad you all decided to do it. I wish I had something like this when I went off to college.
I love this book! It is really good. I’m so impressed with you both and I love the two perspectives.
