Posts to encourage you along your journey.

We all wrestle with after Christmas doldrums. All the lead-up to one amazing day of being with friends and family, eating good food, and reminiscing on good memories seemingly ends so abruptly. Soon trees and lights will come down and presents that have been unwrapped will be put away. You may even find yourself alone again. One sure way to banish that feeling of being alone is to lean into community. The fun and gathering that you experience during Christmas doesn’t have to stop.

The great thing about being a Christian is that we don’t stop celebrating the Savior when December 25th comes and goes. The singing of songs continues. The gathering with friends continues, and often the sharing of meals together continues. Joining a Christian club on campus changed my life in college, and I hope it will change yours too. It’s there, in the company of others who celebrate Jesus year-round, that the joy continues. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another and so much more as you see the Day approaching.”  So you see, the fun doesn’t have to stop.

When you find an excited group of believers at school and at church, it can feel like Christmas every day. I dare you to try it. If you haven’t done it already, make joining a Christian community your first order of business when you return to campus. I know you’ll be glad you did.
