Do you love spring? The flowers, the birds, the sunshine, the allergies. Maybe not that last part, right? Apart from the pollen, I love spring because it reminds me of so many of God’s promises, but especially these two, 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Something about spring makes that promise come to life for me.
The great thing is, when I am living intentionally in the presence of God, that scripture comes alive to me everyday. I intentionally live in his presence when I set aside time to read the Bible, when I run to prayer and then my believing friends with my problems instead of away from them. When I meditate on the scriptures that build me up and resist words from others that could tear me down, when I praise Him through my words and my small acts of service, I am living intentionally in the presence of God. It’s hard to shut off outside noise that tries to crowd out the reality of God’s presence, but when I do turn it off, I’m rewarded with the infilling presence of the Holy Spirit. I hope you find a way in the next few days, to turn off things that try to crowd out the presence of God.
Psalm 16:11
You will show me the path of life: in Your presence is the fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forever more.
